In Redneck in Kenya, you’ll discover what happened when a guy from Texas, Danny Conner, decided to take a break from the hectic life of the oil and gas business to become a volunteer at a children’s shelter in Kenya. In this raucously fun collection of anecdotes and experiences, Danny shares his unique and amusing observations of everyday life in Africa. His off-beat perspective on the world around him will make you laugh while also recounting some of the harsh realities of daily life in Kenya. You’ll laugh as Danny wanders into a Nairobi “Barber Shop Salon & Restaurant” for his first haircut in Kenya, clashes with the Nairobi police, treks through the African wilderness, and encounters the infamous Masai warrior. Share in his struggles to acclimate to a world very different from his own and to communicate with his new friends in his distinctive Texas accent. Tucked between the pages of humor are detailed accounts of getting tear-gassed in the middle of one of the world’s largest slums and making food distributions to refugee camps. There is never a dull moment on this journey where he gained a new perspective and still managed to laugh a lot.

Just down the road I saw a sign that said "Barber Shop Salon & Restaurant." How could I beat that? Get the hair clipped and get some grub at the same time......
